Pauly Rice, relaxing during a tune…

Paul was born and raised in Hinsdale, Massachusetts. A graduate of Westfield State College, Paul has been involved with music his entire life. Paul plays fiddle, banjo, and electric guitar, and sings with the band. Paul also writes original singing and fiddle tunes which he performs with his band Housatonic Philharmonic and a few other Irish bands he plays with. Paul was a member of the popular Eureka String Band, writing and arranging many of the group’s songs. Lauren’s Lullaby, one of Paul’s original tunes written for his daughter, was performed by well known artists Jay Ungar and Molly Mason.

Paul organized a fund raising concert which raised over $6000.00 to stop a massive garbage dump proposed for the headwaters of the Housatonic River. Since 1994 Paul has been teaching fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin both privately and at Wood Brothers Music Store. Paul  is also a craftsman having built many fiddles and other instruments. Paul lives in Hinsdale, Ma. with his wife, Nancy, who loves to knit him sweaters and gloves,  and their daughter.
When Paul isn’t playing music he enjoys relaxing with a good book. An avid reader, he finds himself most attracted to mystery novels and true stories. He is the sweetest guy I know”, says Dona, his bandmate,  “Pauly is impossible not to like.”
Paul’s favorite song on our set list right now?  Cotton Eyed Joe.
